The Design Museum – Amy: Beyond the Stage

Developed by the Design Museum in close collaboration with Amy’s family, this exhibition marked the tenth anniversary of her death and aimed to help rewrite the narrative of her life and career, celebrating her as a person and a cultural figure.

The exhibition was designed to be an intimate and sensitive exploration of Amy’s talent, her influences, her music and her style. We worked closely with the museum to create a coherent story from the carefully curated music, possessions and contextual imagery, creating a series of spaces which change in tone from the sombre to the celebratory. Central to the visitor experience were two immersive installations designed by Chiara Clarke and we worked alongside her team to ensure these moments were integrated seamlessly into the space and the overall narrative.

With our increasing emphasis on working sustainability we re-used structures from the previous exhibition, transforming those spaces with lightweight, recycled and reusable materials to create new and distinct experiences with minimal material use.
