Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration

Planned to open in 2025, The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration will become the national centre for illustration, as well as housing and displaying the extensive archive of original works by Quentin Blake.

All Things Studio were appointed in spring 2023 alongside graphic designers Wolfe Hall to design new permanent and temporary gallery spaces within the Centre’s new home, a former water works in Clerkenwell, central London.

Our designs were inspired by the history of the site, which dates back to the 17th Century. Building on the traces of pipes and water movement still visible throughout the buildings, the materiality, colour and detail of our interventions will help connect contemporary visitors to the site’s past life.

As well as being sympathetic to the historic architecture our designs will also help create a contemporary identity for the Centre that is engaging and accessible to a wide range of audiences in a diverse part of inner London.
